Shin Hye Sung
- Name: Shin Hye Sung
- Native name: 신혜성
- Also Known as: 정필교, Shin Hye Seong, Jeong Pil Gyo, Sin Hye Seong
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: November 27, 1979
- Age: 46
He auditioned for SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) when he was living in the United States as an exchange student.
He made his debut in March 1998 as the group's main vocalist with their first album, "Resolver". However, the album was not well received by the music critics, and the public and SM began thinking about disbanding or restructuring the group.
While the group was switching agencies, he joined project group S alongside Lee Ji Hoon and Kang Ta. The trio debuted in September 2003 with the album, "Fr.in.Cl". They have continued their partnership, working as composers or producers of their individual projects and occasionally releasing new material.
He made his debut as a solo artist in May 2005 with the album "Love of May".
In 2008, SHINHWA went on hiatus as members began enlisting in the military. The group officially made a comeback after a 4-year break. They reunite to release new material every now and then. Group activities are managed by Shinhwa Company (신화컴퍼니), established by Eric Mun. Lee Min Woo has acted as the co-CEO since 2011, and the rest of the members serve as shareholders.
In October 2022, he was found sleeping inside a parked vehicle in the middle of a road. Police arrived, and he was brought in for questioning. The car in which he was sleeping was previously reported stolen. He was initially sentenced to 1-year probation for possession of a stolen vehicle and refusing a breathalyzer test. In 2023, the prosecution appealed the "lenient" sentence and began asking for a 2-year prison sentence. However, in April 2024, the court upheld the initial sentence. One month later, his sentence was finalized as neither the prosecution nor he presented an appeal. KBS banned him from appearing in any of the network's programs until further notice.
For his individual activities, he is represented by Live Works Company (라이브웍스컴퍼니), and SM Entertainment still handles all activities related to project group S.
