He made his debut in January 2016 as IMFACT's main vocalist, lead dancer, visual and face of the group with their first single album, "Lollipop". In 2017, he participated in the singing survival show "The Unit" but was eliminated just before the final selection and placed 11th overall. In 2018, the group had their first performance in the United States and later released the digital single "Nanana", a song that was ranked in the Top 20 of best K-pop songs of the year.
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on July 27, 2020, and was discharged on January 26, 2022. However, a few weeks before being discharged, the company announced the members would not be renewing their contracts. The members later announced the group was not disbanding, just entering an indefinite hiatus.
In 2022, he signed an exclusive contract with KH Entertainment (케이에이치컴퍼니) and debuted as a solo artist under the stage name Seowool with the digital single "Daystar". He decided to go back to his birth name in January 2023 as Seowool was a hard name to search online.
He also works as a calligraphist under the alias Calliup.
