He participated in an audition show created by JYP Entertainment (JYP엔터테인먼트) and was chosen to be part of the resulting group. He made his debut in March 2018 as STRAY KIDS' vocalist and maknae with their first EP, "I Am Not".
The group is almost self-produced, with JYP providing minimal support and mainly acting as their representative and with the in-house production team, 3RACHA (쓰리라차; consisting of Bang Chan, Changbin and Han), acting as the main producers.
He became a brand ambassador for Bottega Veneta in January 2025 and a global ambassador for Damiani in May 2025.
