Realslow
- Name: Realslow
- Native name: 최휘성
- Also Known as: Choi Hui Sung, Wheesung, 崔輝晟, Choe Hwi Seong, Choe Hwisung
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: February 5, 1982
- Died: March 10, 2025
He started his career in 1997 as a member of a back dancing team ING. He then made his debut in May 1999 as A4's rapper and vocalist with their first single, "Because Of Love". He decided to leave the group after the promotional period ended, and the group ended up disbanding in early 2001. He became the guest vocalist of the rock band MAME for a short while before deciding to pursue a career as a soloist.
He then made his debut as a solo artist in 2002 with the album "Like A Movie", which was praised by senior singers and earned him the Best New Artist award at several ceremonies. His second album, "It's Real", also proved to be successful, and he became the best-selling artist of 2003 in South Korea.
He left YG Entertainment when his contract expired in 2006 and signed with Orange Shock Agency. He continued to collaborate with many singers and also began producing songs.
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on November 7, 2011, and was discharged on August 9, 2013. After serving, he was accused of using propofol (an anesthetic) several times between 2011 and 2013. He denied the charges and claimed he used the substance to treat a herniated disc and alopecia. The Court cleared him of all charges.
In 2017, he established his own label, Realslow Company, and changed his stage name to Realslow.
His problems with drug use continued in March and April 2020 when he was found unconscious in bathrooms in a shopping mall and in a hotel with several syringes and white vials containing Etomidate (another anesthetic). A few days later, a former TV personality called Amy confirmed she engaged in propofol use with him in 2019 and early 2020.
He faced a trial for all these charges, and in January 2021, he admitted his guilt and was sentenced to one year in prison, probation for two years, 40 hours of community service, and 40 hours of drug treatment lectures.
On March 10, 2025, his agency, Tajo Entertainment (타조엔터테인먼트), confirmed he was found collapsed and in cardiac arrest in an apartment in Seoul. He was declared dead at the age of 43 after CPR measurements were ineffective. Authorities began an investigation as they believe a significant amount of time passed before he was found and are considering the possibility of an overdose or suicide. Funeral arrangements have been delayed for the time being.
