He made his debut in November 1998 as SHARP's rapper with their first album, "The S#arp". At the time, the music industry was dominated by male or female groups, so World Music (월드뮤직) decided to gamble by creating a co-ed group. They proved to be somewhat successful, especially with their 1999 single, "Tell Me Tell Me".
However, they also faced several lineup changes right after the promotion period of their debut album ended. He assumed the role of leader when original member John Kim left the group in early 1999.
The group ended up disbanding in October 2002 after the bullying scandal by Seo Ji Young over fellow member Lee Ji Hye. They settled their differences 11 years later.
He began his acting career in 2002 with a role in the sitcom "Orange", but after the group's disbandment, he retired from the entertainment industry for several years. He came back in 2008 and resumed his acting career.
He is currently represented by KL Star Entertainment (KL스타 엔터테인먼트).
