He made his debut as a solo artist in 2009 (under his real name) with the EP "Pure & Love" but he was not very successful.
He re-debuted in March 2011 when he joined as the group's new main vocalist with their fifth EP, "Bran New Kiss". The group had debuted in 2008 but, Global H Media (글로벌에이치미디어, formerly known as NH Media) decided to add him to the lineup to replace departing members Alexander and Ki Bum.
Later in 2011, they debuted in Japan with the single "Tick Tack" and became the first K-Pop group to perform in Colombia (in 2012) and the second to hold a concert in Mexico (in 2013).
He re-debuted as a solo artist in Japan in January 2017 with the EP "Yukisakura".
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on March 18, 2019 and was discharged on October 20, 2020. He left Global H Media in August 2021 after his contract expired but decided to remain part of the group.
In January 2022, he signed with Tango Music (탱고뮤직) and began talks to re-form the group and, in mid-2023, they held concerts in Japan and in South Korea for their 15th anniversary reunion.
In May 2022, he married former GIRL'S DAY member Hwang Ji Seon and the couple welcomed their first son in January 2024.
The now 5-member group made a comeback in June 2024 with their 13th mini-album, "Let's Get Started".
