Born in Tianjin, China, but moved to Hong Kong at the age of 14. In 1989 he was discovered by a Taiwanese producer and began to appear in television programmes. In 1991 he acted on stage with Hong Konger actress, Gong Cien, and they got married in Vancouver in 1999. After settling back in HK, they had a son and daughter. Lin Wei applied for Taiwanese permanent residency in 2014. In 2019 it was reported that he and Gong Cien were filing for a divorce. Edit Biography
