Bang Ye Dam
- Name: Bang Ye Dam
- Native name: 방예담
- Also Known as: Bang Yedam
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: May 7, 2002
- Age: 23
He comes from a musically-oriented family as his father is a well-known composer of several songs for animations and South Korean dubbing of Japanese anime, his mother is usually the one who sings those songs, and his uncle has composed many jingles for commercials. At the age of 5, he was already involved in the industry as he participated in the opening songs for EBS' show "Bboong bboong-E" and the Korean-dub version of the Japanese anime "Onegai! Samia-don".
He first appeared on TV in 2012-2013 as a contestant in "K-Pop Star Season 2", where he finished as the show's runner-up behind the winners, AKMU.
There were rumors about a possible new group being planned by YG Entertainment (YG 엔터테인먼트), and the agency began scouting several candidates. However, instead of having them debut immediately, they created a new survival competition, "YG Treasure Box", in order to have them ready to debut. The original plan was to have a 13-member group (called TREASURE 13) but split up into two separate lineups, TREASURE and MAGNUM. He was ultimately chosen as part of the 7-member lineup TREASURE. But, in early 2019, Ha Yoon Bin decided to leave in order to pursue a career as a solo artist, so the plans changed and both lineups were merged into the final 12-member product, keeping the name TREASURE.
YG decided to have him debut as a solo artist ahead of his debut with the group by releasing the digital single "Wayo" in June 2020. The song and music video were dedicated to all the fans who supported him in "K-Pop Star Season 2" and was co-produced by WINNER's Kang Seung Yoon and AKMU's Lee Chan Hyuk. The song was not promoted at all due to him getting ready to debut with his group, and he still managed to peak at number 10 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart.
He then made his debut in August 2020 as TREASURE's main vocalist with their first single album, "The First Step: Chapter One". The album reached the #1 spot on the Circle Album Chart (formerly known as Gaon Album Chart), and was certified platinum by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA), becoming their first-ever certification. They were labeled as the "fastest-growing K-pop act in the world" by X (formerly Twitter), and they were the only South Korean male group to be included in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity 40 (Rising Star) ranking (that also included girl groups AESPA and STAYC).
However, he went on hiatus in May 2022 as YG announced he was studying music. He never returned to the lineup because, in November of that year, he announced his departure from the group and the agency in order to pursue a career as a solo artist and as a producer.
After leaving, he signed with GF Entertainment (GF엔터테인먼트) and then released his first mini-album, "Only One", in November 2023.
