Lu Yang is a Chinese film director, screenwriter and producer, born in Beijing and graduated from the directing department of Beijing Film Academy in 2007. His father is Lu Hai Bo, a director and professor of the department of film and television of Central Academy of Drama.

In 2010, Lu won the KNN Award in the New Wave Unit at the 15th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea with his directional debut "My Spectacular Theatre". The movie also won the Best Director's First Film Award at the 28th China Film Golden Rooster Awards. In September 2021, his work "A Writer's Odyssey" was awarded the "Night of Youth honors the Most Popular Director of the Year" of the 28th College Student Film Festival Awards at the Beijing International Film Festival.
