“Karma” (2015, Arbat) directed by Kanittha Kwunyoo was initially banned for depicting a reluctant novice breaking monk precepts such as drinking and having a girlfriend. The film was Thailand’s nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
