- Nationality: Taiwanese
- Gender: Male
- Born: September 8, 1976

Yen began playing basketball at Wangxi Elementary School in New Taipei City and distinguished himself at Nanshan High School. He continued his education at Fu Jen Catholic University and was recruited by the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) team Tai Rui Zhan Shen in 1995, marking the start of his professional career. During his time in the CBA from 1995 to 1998, he was mentored by senior guard and coach Li Chih Chiang.
He represented Taiwan in the Asian Youth Men's Basketball Championship and was selected for the Chinese Taipei national basketball team from the 1997 East Asian Games through the 2003 Asian Championship. After the CBA ceased operations in 1999, Yen was serving his military duty and competed in the A-League basketball league with the military training team.
In addition to his military service, Yen participated in the A-League with his original team, Chung Kuo Zhan Shen, competing in various tournaments. However, he began to experience knee injuries during this period. In 2003, he joined the newly established Super Basketball League (SBL) with his original team. After the first season (2003-2004), due to ongoing knee issues and the challenges of balancing his entertainment career, he decided to retire from playing.
Initially, Yen intended to coach in the CBA but chose to decline any coaching positions temporarily. From 2008 until 2011, he served as an assistant coach for the U18 Asian Championship and the U19 World Championship men's basketball teams. In September 2011, he became a coach at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, planning to remain in the NCAA for two years. However, he returned to Taiwan in 2012 to take over as head coach of the U18 Asian Championship team, becoming the first non-HBL coach to lead the U18 team in recent years. In 2013, he served as the executive coach at the National Sports University, overseeing the Pauian Youth Team's roster.
