Before the age of 15 years old, he was a track and field player. At the age of 15, he was seconded to the basketball team because of his height. When he was playing in Nantong, he was fancied by the fencing coach Huang Baohua . In the summer of 1997, Zhong Man officially studied fencing under coach Huang Baohua. In 2005, entered the national fencing team. In 2008, Zhong Man won the gold medal in the men's individual sabre in Beijing Olympic Games.
