Sudo began his acting career in 1934 with the Theatre Antime troupe (劇団テアトル・アンチーム). He later joined the Studio Tokyo troupe (劇団スタジオ東京) in 1935, followed by the Fukukawa Ryokupa troupe (古川緑波一座) in 1939. After briefly rejoining the troupe in 1943, he became a member of the Toho Theatre Company (東宝劇団). Sudo also worked with various other troupes, including Gekidan Tokyo (劇団東京), Sousekiza (創作座), Baraza (バラ座), and Moulin Rouge Shinjukuza (ムーランルージュ新宿座).
In 1950, he made his film debut in Oonami no Yoru Kiri (大利根の夜霧), and in 1954, he joined Toei Company (東映). In 1962, he was involved in the establishment of Nishioka Production (西岡プロ).
Sudo passed away from a heart attack on November 5, 1992, at the age of 76 in Minato, Tokyo. He was married to nude dancer Akira Ryuko (曉竜子), and his niece was former stage actress Maya Akemi (麻耶あけみ). Actor Nagato Isamu (長門勇) was his nephew-in-law.
