In 2012, Kwak Do Won received both the SBS Drama Awards: Special Acting Award, Actor in a Drama Special and the Korea Drama Awards: Excellence Award, Actor, for his portrayal of the hot-headed detective Kwan Hyuk Joo in "Ghost".
Most recently Kwak Do Won played a supporting role in the KBS drama "Good Doctor" (2013) and appeared in a guest role in the SBS drama "The Suspicious Housekeeper" (2013).
It was revealed that he began dating actress Jang So Yeon in 2015 after appearing in "The Wailing" together. The two actors broke up in 2017 due to busy schedules.
On September 25, 2022 the Jeju Seobu Police Station officially announced that the actor had been indicted for drunk driving after falling asleep in a stopped car in the middle of the road.
