He is a former YG Entertainment trainee and appeared on Mnet’s survival show “Mix & Match” in 2014. He was eliminated in episode 9 of the show and thus did not debut as a member of iKON. Afterwards, he continued his training under YG Entertainment, however on March 3, 2015, he decided to leave the agency due to personal reasons and they respected his decision. He was later also a trainee under KQ Produce.
In 2017, he debuted as a soloist under S.F.R Entertainment with the single “Calling You”.
On October 10, 2018, under the stage name Angelo, Jinhyeong was announced as one of the original members of ambitious ambition (앰비셔스 앰비션) or aa crew - a multi creator group under AXIS. He left that group some time after and was also a part of FA Crew starting in 2019.
He released his first solo EP "Soar" on October 25, 2019.
JEY founded record label Alfha in 2022.
