In 1948, she caught the eye of Kinoshita Keisuke and made her movie debut in "Shozo (The Portrait)" in a guest role. She subsequently left the opera company following an appearance in "Hakai (Apostasy)" and joined Shochiku.
Later, while appearing in another of director Kinoshita's works, she became popular for her sweet beauty. She got her first starring role in 1950s "Mittsu no Kekkon". In 1953, she married composer Mayuzumi Toshiro and prioritized family, leading to a reduced number of appearances. The two remained married up until Toshiro's death in April of 1997.
She died in March 2007 at 76 years old. The news was announced the following month.
Her eldest son in Mayuzumi Rintaro, currently a drama and film director. Edit Biography
