His real name is Kinnosuke. He was born in Tokyo Iwato-cho (now Ushigome of Shinjuku-ku, Iwato-cho) and grew up in Shintomicho (now Chuo-ku Shintomi ).

His father was the first member of the first Ichikawa Sandan troupe, and Kinnosuke also worked as a writer after serving as a child under the name of “Ichikawa Takanosuke”.

In January 1925, after the Great Kanto Earthquake , when Kabukiza Theater was reconstructed and opened, he became the head of the shogunate and acting representative. In 1928, he became a director of Shochiku. He wrote more than 60 scripts, and also “Meijiza Monogatari” (1928), “Historic Theater of the Early Modern Theater ” (1936), “ Kanya Morita History of the Transitional Theater ” (1943) ( Shintomiza ) (Relationship) was published. In addition, from 1936 to 1940, he presided over the theater magazine “Central Theater”.

In 1944, the end of the Pacific War , he lost his wife Tomiko.

After retiring Shochiku after the war, he managed a wig store. He also served as the president of the Stage Art Federation.
