Tian made his debut in the 2001 movie "Heart to Heart". In 2020, he won the 2019 Movie Channel M List's Most Outstanding Little Characters for his lead role in the "Driving for You All Night". In August same year, he won the "Magnolia Award for Best Supporting Actor" at the 26th Shanghai TV Festival for "Joy of Life".
It was reported Tian and Tang Wei fell in love in 2004 because of their collaoration in the movie "Jing Hua Yan Zi", but they broke up because of it.
On 18 November 2009, Tian and Chinese actress Wang Yue registered their marriage in Beijing. They have a daughter.
