That same year, she debuted as a singer when she joined the band PUNSUDEUL (when she was still in high school) with their first single album, "Rock 'n' Roll Go".
Then, in 1994, she began using the stage name Yoo Chae Young, and she became one of the original members of the co-ed group COOL. She appeared with a shaved head, a bold hairstyle for female celebrities in the mid-1990s, and attracted a lot of attention from the media when they debuted with their first album, "The Reason I Wanted You".
She decided to leave the group in 1995 and went on to form the duo US, which was not very successful, and one year later, she decided to become a soloist. In 1999, she released her first single, "Emotion", and she is credited for contributing to the spread of techno music in South Korea.
She then worked as a singer, actress, and entertainer and was active in various entertainment broadcasts from 2007 to 2010. She was also a popular radio host on the MBC program "Good Weekend, It's Kim Kyung Sik and Yoo Chae Young", known for her quick wit and self-deprecating humor.
Sadly, she was diagnosed with gastric cancer in October 2013, and the disease was so advanced that the doctors performed surgery and offered chemotherapy, but the prognosis was not good. She passed away on July 24, 2014, at the age of 40.
