He dropped out of his junior high school and moved to Tokyo. He began acting on stage soon after.
In 1940, he married Takeda Moto. With her, he had two children but the two divorced in 1965.
After WWII, he joined Shin Toho and continued performing. He only starred in one film and was largely cast in supporting roles.
