Yang Joon Il
- Name: Yang Joon Il
- Native name: 양준일
- Also Known as: JIY, John Yang, 존 양
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Male
- Born: August 19, 1969
- Age: 56
He made his debut in South Korea in 1991 with the album "Winter Wonderer" and the title song "Rebecca" and was active for a few years before he had issues renewing his visa and had to leave the country. He decided to quit the industry after confessing during an interview that the South Korean public did not like him very much due to his odd looks and songs.
In 2001, he made an attempt to come back, under the stage name JIY, and joined the band V2 with their 3rd album (the band had previously debuted, and he joined during promotions for this album), "Fantasy". He enjoyed a brief success before his agency began facing economic problems. He quit his singing career once again and spent 14 years as an English teacher.
In 2006, he married his non-celebrity girlfriend after one year of dating, and the couple welcomed their first son in 2015. That same year, he returned to the U.S., but because of his age, he could not find work so easily and spent time doing many part-time activities.
In 2019, a Youtube video of his previous performances went viral, and producers for "Two Yoo Project Sugar Man Season 3" contacted him and he decided to make a 3rd comeback. He performed his old songs in one of the show's episodes and he immediately gained popularity and was invited to other shows. He remains active in South Korea with fan meetings, events and other activities.
