Lee Soon Kyu, also known by her English name Susan Soonkyu Lee and professionally as Sunny, is a South Korean-American singer, dancer, and member of GIRLS' GENERATION (소녀시대; also known as SNSD). She was born in Orange County, California, but her family moved to Kuwait when she was an infant. When the Gulf War began in 1991, they decided to return to South Korea. She holds dual citizenship and graduated from Baehwa Girls' High School. She is the niece of SM Entertainment's founder, Lee Soo Man.

Before debuting, she joined SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) in 1998 and was a trainee for 5 years. As she had not debuted by then, she moved on to Starworld (her father's agency), where she worked as a manager and was set to be part of the duo SUGAR (슈가). The plans kept changing as the duo then became a 4-member group, but she was excluded from the final lineup. So, in 2007, she moved back to SM Entertainment.

She made her debut in August 2007 as the group's lead vocalist and sub-rapper with the single "Into The New World", part of their self-titled album "Girls' Generation", released in November of that year. They quickly became one of the most known South Korean figures and successful K-pop groups worldwide and have earned numerous accolades and been labeled as "The Nation's Girl Group". They rose to fame in 2009 with the single "Gee", which claimed the top spot on KBS's Music Bank for a record-breaking nine consecutive weeks and was Melon's most popular song of the 2000s decade.

Individually, she began taking on hosting duties for several music shows and award ceremonies. She also became a regular member of "Invincible Youth" and in 2012, she was featured in the Korean-dubbed version of animated film "The Outback" providing for the voice over for one of the characters. She took the lead role in the South Korean production of the Broadway musical "Catch Me If You Can" during 2012 and 2013, where her performance received a positive critical review and was nominated for Best New Actress in the 6th The Musical Awards.

In September 2018, she became part of the group's second sub-unit, GIRLS' GENERATION-OH!GG (소녀시대-Oh!GG), alongside the other 4 members who renewed their contracts with SM. They released the single "Lil' Touch".

Her contract with SM Entertainment expired in August 2023, and she is currently without representation but still active as a host and entertainer.
