Wu Xiao Dong is a Chinese actor, director and screenwriter, born in Chengde City of Hebei Province and graduated from the Directing Department of Central Academy of Drama. In 1978, he was admitted to the drama class of Hebei Provincial Art School before joining the Chengde Drama Troupe. He made his first screen appearance in the 1980 TV series "Wedding Scene".

In 1984, Wu met Chinese actress Shen Lin during the filming of "Dream of Red Mansions". They officially married in 1996, and they have a daughter.
