Kim Beom Ryong is a South Korean singer. He graduated from Yeouido High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Western Painting from Chungbuk National University. Prior to debuting, he was part of the vocal duo "Empty Cart" at the 1982 Yeonpo Song Festival and became a professional singer after winning the Excellence Award with his self-composed song "Destiny". He then made his debut in 1985 with the single album "Wind, Wind, Wind" that became one of the biggest hits in the country during the 1980s and the song was even used as the entrance song for the athletes during the opening ceremony at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. In 1995, his career was put on hold after he was arrested for consumption of methamphetamine and cannabis. All the major networks banned him until 1999 when he was able to resume his TV appearances. He has released several albums since then but now is also focused on producing songs for other singers.
