Kang Hee Gun, known professionally as Gary, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, TV personality, and former member of SMURFS (스머프), X-TEEN (엑스틴), HONEY FAMILY (허니 패밀리) and LEESSANG (리쌍). He graduated from Jamsil High School.

He made his debut in 1996 as a member of the co-ed hip-hop group SMURFS. However, a few months later, he met other hip-hop artists in underground nightclubs and decided to leave.

In 1997, he joined Gil Sung Joon (known professionally as Gill) and other members to form the hip-hop group X-TEEN. They debuted in 1998 with their first album, "Reversal". However, they took a break right after that and came back in 2000 with several lineup changes.

He and Gill decided to leave the group and joined the co-ed hip-hop/rap group HONEY FAMILY. He was part of 2 albums, and around late 2000, he joined Gill and fellow member Diggity in forming a sub-unit called LEESSAM, releasing a compilation album called "2000 Korea".

In 2002, Diggity left, and the duo changed their group's name to LEESSANG. Without any formal training, the duo spent countless hours inside a studio and released their first album, "Leessang of Honey Family". The title track, "Rush" (featuring Jung In), was a hit that is still seen as one of the best singles of the duo. Their mainstream success came until their third album, "Library of Soul", released in 2005 when they finally became well-known in the country.

In 2014, he made his debut as a solo artist with the mini-album "Mr. Gae". Despite the album being banned by all major TV broadcast stations for its 19+ content, his songs still managed to top several charts. He and long-time collaborator Jung In later went on to form the duo Jung In & Gary. The two released the singles "Your Scent" and "Bicycle".

LEESSANG decided to disband in 2017 to pursue their own endeavors. He focused on record producing and was featured in works by other famous artists such as Psy. He also began appearing as a regular member on several variety shows.

In April 2017, he surprised everyone by revealing that he had married his non-celebrity girlfriend. The couple has one child born in November of that year. After taking a break from TV, he returned in 2020 for several episodes of "The Return of Superman".

In May 2024, he joined Code Kunst and Woo Won Jae and created their own hip-hop label, Duover (두오버).
