He graduated from Waseda University Faculty of Law in 1950. In 1949 he joined the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting System troupe along with Ryo Kurosawa and Kiyoshi Kawakubo.

Debuted as Kirino Kojiro in the radio drama " Fuebuki Doji " . After that, he acted as a voice actor, and after the overseas drama " Captain McColare " appeared in many Western Movies as dubbing, and was in charge of the second actors such as Montgomery Clift and Tyrone Power . He has also been active as the host of the radio "Rakuten Club" and as a narrator for the TV "Only I Know", and it is said that the number of appearances is over 20,000 .

Focusing on the spread and reading of beautiful spoken language, he presides over reading sessions and reading classes. In 1974, with the Japanese language scholar Kazuhiko Kaneda , based on the NHK Cultural Fund , established the Broadcast Expression Education Center for the audience of Edo and Tokyo . The center was Japan's first reading vocational school and eventually became a training center for narrators and voice actors, and Yamauchi acted as a representative and advocated a method of reading aloud, which is dramatic reading, when teaching backwards movements .

After leaving the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Company in 1977, worked as a freelancer after working for K Production .

He died of lung cancer in Meguro-ku, Tokyo on April 7, 2003 . He died at the age of 74 (75 years old). Edit Biography
