Born in Kanda Ward, Tokyo City, Tokyo (currently Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo ). and dropped out of Tokyo City First High School (currently Fukagawa High School, Tokyo ).

She studied under Masao Inoue and took her first stage in 1932 .

In 1942, she formed a theater company Bunkaza with her husband Takashi Sasaki , Satoshi Yamamura , Isao Yamagata and others. After Sasaki's death, she took office as a representative and contributed to the development of the new theater world in Japan.

She played many middle-aged female roles and old female roles, and was called "one the three grandmothers (actors) actresses in the new theater world" along with Sakae Kitayashiya and Koei Hatsui, and was evaluated as a master of old age.

On May 22, 2007, she died due to heart failure in a hospital in Chiba Prefecture, Kashiwa City, at 88 years old.

Her daughter is actress Ai Sasaki. Edit Biography
