The group was created and produced by H Music Entertainment's (에이치뮤직엔터테인먼트, formerly known as NV Entertainment and SSQ Entertainment) director Han Ji Seok and CEO Kim Kyu Sang.
In April 2024, H Music announced the group's stylized version of their name had changed from WOO!AH! to WOOAH.
