Park Shin Yang is a South Korean actor and painter. He graduated from Kwangsung High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Theater and Film from Dongguk University and is enrolled in the master's degree program in Western Painting at Andong National University and in the Philosophy program at Sogang University.

He intended to have a career exclusively as a theater actor but was disillusioned when he was part of a stage play with an audience of only 10 persons. He decided to enter the TV and movie industries to showcase his acting skills to a wider audience. He made his debut in 1996 with a role in the movie "Yuri" and won the Best New Actor award at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards. He established as one of South Korea's top lead actors in the early 2000s.

In 2007, he appeared in the TV drama "War of Money" and the show was so successful that SBS decided to extend it for 4 more episodes and producers agreed to pay him ₩170 million per episode. But, the producers denied having a deal, refused to pay him and alleged that he was only looking for more money. He sued and, in November 2009, won the case but was banned by the Korea Drama Production Association until late 2011 when the ban was lifted.

He now continues to appear in many projects and has won two Daesang Awards at SBS in 2004 and 2007. He is represented by Synergy International (씨너지인터내셔널).
