Mai Guan Zhi, born in Hong Kong 1970 and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1990 and joined the Drama Division of the Production Department of Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (TVB) as an assistant director in July 1994 in the same year, he was promoted to the position of director and he was assigned to drama " The Criminal Investigator (1995)" produced by Jonathan Chik (戚其义) which gained an instant popularity

From 1995 to 2002, he wrote and directed different types of TV series, among which the most impressive were "Cold Blood Warm Heart (1996) ", " Old Time Buddy (难兄难弟)-(1997) ", "The Duke of Mount Deer(1998)", " The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain (1999)" and he was promoted to a senior director position in TVB.

In 2003 after leaving TVB, he has completed the "Westside Story(2003)"- a Taiwanese drama and "Chinese Paladin(2005)" which gained him popularity in Mainland china

He directed several Tawainese dramas like " La Robe De Mariee Des Cieux/Heaven's Wedding Gown(2004)," which won the 2004 Taiwanese rating champion later it was dubbed into Mainland and this drama made Leon Jay Williams and Ming Dao overnight stars and his last Taiwanese drama was "Green Forest, My Home(2005)"

Mai Guan Zhi directed several critically acclaimed dramas like Anti-drug hero(2007) a story adapted to commemorate an anti-narcotics policeman from Yunnan Province, "Wu Guanglin" who died heroically on August 30, 2004, "Lotus Rain (2009)" a TV series to celebrate 10th anniversary of the return of Macau, and "Beauty World (2011)" a TV series shot by CCTV to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China
and he also directed melodramas like "A Clear Midsummer Night(2013)", "Road To North (2016)" and a Family comedy "Super Dad & Super Kids (2018)"

On August 6, 2020, Mai Guanzhi's Mythological Xianxia Masterpiece "Love and Redemption(2020)" was launched in Yoku app which his first web drama Edit Biography
