He wanted to become a model when he was younger, but his family had financial issues, and he had to work conventional jobs in order to bring money to the household. He then ran a restaurant for 27 years, but his daughter convinced him to enroll in a modeling academy to pursue his lifelong dream.
He made his debut in 2018 as part of the F/W Seoul Fashion Week under the brand Kimmy J. He immediately attracted the public's attention as he started his modeling career at the age of 63.
