He made his debut in May 2011 as the group's lead vocalist with their first single, also titled "Boyfriend". However, media critics and the public did not like their debut single and Starship Entertainment (스타쉽엔터테인먼트) tried to remedy the situation by quickly changing the entire choreography in just 2 days. The responses after that were much improved, and the group found a fanbase.
The group debuted in Japan in 2012 and then continued promoting in both countries, holding several concerts each year.
However, in May 2019, Starship announced the group had disbanded after all contracts expired. The following month, he made his debut as a solo artist under his full name. He has also produced several of the group's songs.
Then, in May 2021, the whole group reunited to celebrate their 10th anniversary and released the digital single "Ending Credit". Talks of a possible comeback began gaining traction, and in December 2021, the group officially returned after re-branding to BF with the EP "Adonis".
He founded Westtime Entertainment (웨스트타임 엔터테인먼트), and now the agency manages BF's activities.
