He was a student in LDH's dance school EXPG in Osaka. As a child, he used to feature in some of Exile's music videos and concerts.
In 2013 through an audition he managed to earn a spot in Project TARO which was an entertainment based educational program organized by LDH and Avex. For the 3-year duration of the project he lived, trained and studied in NYC. (Fellow BBZ bandmates Masa and Miku were also part of this project).
After returning from New York, Rikiya was selected to part of LDH's newest boy group Ballistik Boyz. The group made their official debut on May 22, 2019.
