Jacky Wu
- Name: Jacky Wu
- Native name: 吳宗憲
- Also Known as: Wu Zong Xian, Wu Zongxian, Wu Tsunghsien, 吴宗宪
- Nationality: Taiwanese
- Gender: Male
- Born: September 26, 1962
- Age: 63
Wu attended Hsin-nan Elementary School, and after graduating from junior high, he enrolled in Tainan Second Senior High School but dropped out. He attended five different high schools over four years, ultimately earning a certificate through self-study and passing the college entrance exam in 1982. He later studied at three institutions: National Chung Hsing University’s evening division of the College of Law and Business, Chinese Culture University’s Department of Drama, and the Department of Film and Drama at National Taiwan Academy of Arts.
At 16, he won a national singing competition and, after moving to Taipei, began performing in folk music restaurants. He also worked in various jobs, including at strip clubs, a gas station, and as an office assistant at a securities company. In the early 1980s, he participated in "Five Lights Award" and won the competition four times but left due to mandatory military service. Afterward, he recorded two songs for the 1985 compilation album "New Golden Melody Award – Youth Creative Stage."
In May 1987, Wu released his debut solo album, "Is It Only on Nights Like These That You Think of Me?" In the late 1990s, he founded the entertainment group "Xian Xian Family." He later invested in various industries, including real estate, gyms, publishing, and talent agencies. However, his LED business investments failed, and he had owned over ten properties in Taiwan before facing financial setbacks. In 2001, his company Alpha Records was sold to the Haole Di Group due to financial losses.
Wu wrote, directed, and starred in his first film, "Detective Two and a Half", in 1999. In 2016, he founded "Easy Cultural Creative Co., Ltd." and, in 2009, briefly served as chairman of Xiang Sheng Electronics Co., Ltd. before resigning due to the company’s debts.
Wu was married to a woman surnamed Hsieh, with whom he has three children. The couple separated in 2010, with their daughter, Wu Tze Han, living with him. He has a second daughter, Wu Shu Chen, born in 2015, and later remarried a woman surnamed Lin. Wu has also been linked to actresses Hsieh Hsian Chuan and Chang Hsueh You during his early career.
Wu's business and personal life has included controversy. From 2000 to 2006, investigations found that he evaded taxes, and he was required to pay back taxes and penalties totaling 41.8 million NTD. In 2004, he was caught drunk driving and involved in a standoff with police, leading to public criticism.
