At a young age, he and his mother moved to Japan. He attended elementary school in Yokohama before transferring to Tokyo. After returning to Shandong at aged 13 in 2000, he was chosen by Director Du Qifeng to star in the movie "Youth Memoirs". The 2003 movie was nominated for the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards.
In 2012, his role in the TV series "Angel Heart" won for him the "Best Supporting Actor" and the "Best Newcomer" at the Second Sohu Video TV Series Festival. In 2013, he was awarded the "Acting Idol" at the Chinese Opera Festival for his role in "Prince of Lanling".
It was reported that Zhai and actress Jiang Kai Tong dated between 2014 and 2017. Edit Biography
