Sharon Kwan is a Hong Kong-American singer. Born in the United States, she moved to mainland China in 2002 to study traditional Chinese culture and music. She attended the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Shanghai Yuanpei School, where she chose the erhu as her major instrument, influenced by her admiration for the group Twelve Girls Band. Kwan returned to the United States in 2008 to continue her studies.

At 14, she began engaging with Mandarin pop music, posting covers of Chinese and Korean songs online, which attracted attention. Encouraged by her mother, she studied singing in Los Angeles for two years, performing at restaurants and competing in singing contests starting in 2010.

She participated in the first season of Chinese Idol in 2011, where she won the championship in the grand final on January 8, 2012. She released her debut Mandarin album, "Kwan Zai Jia", on August 24, 2012, and became Tao Zhe's first female disciple. In early 2012, she joined Gold Star Entertainment as a key new artist under a collaboration with Great Culture and Seed Music. She is currently based in Taipei, Taiwan.
