Yuri was born in Kogaisu, Jonan-mura, Kuwana-gun, Mie Prefecture as the second son of his father, Yataro, and his mother, Suwa. After graduating from Jonan Elementary School, he moved to a relative's residence in Fukagawa-cho, Uryu-gun, Hokkaido, and entered Hokkaido Government Asahikawa Junior High School. However, he dropped out in 1921. After dropping out, he worked as a clerk at a timber company ran by his uncle.
From 1948, he ran a mahjong club in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and used to be the head of the Setagaya Mahjong Industry Association and the auditor of the Tokyo Mahjong Association. Edit Biography
