Sakamoto Kyu was a Japanese actor, talent, singer, and moderator from Kawasaki Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

His wife is actress Kashiwagi Yukiko. Together they have two daughters.

He spent his childhood during World War II and evacuated to Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where his mother's parents lived.

Sakamoto, who was heading to Kasama for evacuation, was riding with his mother in a vehicle that fell into the river in a train collision at Tsuchiura Station on the Joban Line on October 26, 1943, during the war and caused many casualties.

When he went to high school, he became enthusiastic about rock'n'roll (generally known as rockabilly at the time), which was beginning to become popular with some of the most hipster young people at the time, at the Tachikawa officers club.

On August 26, he made his first appearance as a rockabilly singer in the 3rd Nikkei Western Carnival and won the New Face Award.
