In March 1999, she won the Morning Musume & Michiyo Heike Sister Protégé Audition held by Hello! Project (ハロー!プロジェクト), a musical collective of all female recording artists and groups under Up-Front Promotion, a subsidiary of Up-Front Group (株式会社アップフロントグループ). She released her first single, "Unchain My Heart" a few months later. However, after three unsuccessful singles, she decided to quit Hello! Project in September 2000.
She returned in 2005, now using her real name, and provided two OSTs for the horror film "Kokkuri-san". The following year, she married Kim and moved to South Korea. She occasionally appears on South Korean TV variety shows.
