Oku graduated from the Department of Composition, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, and dropped out of the master's program at the same university.
He joined Hiromi Go's backing band while attending graduate school, and made his debut as a member of the rock band "Spectrum" on August 25, 1979. He made his solo debut on March 21, 1981 with the album "Misty Morning".
Since April 2005, he has been a visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music Music and Acoustic Design Course.
In May 2009, Oku won the 2008 JASRAC Award International Award for "Ashita no Nadja BGM". Edit Biography
