Xu Qing is a Chinese film actress, director and voice actress, born in Beijing to an aristocratic family consisting of foreign ambassadors, scholars and politicians. Her childhood days were spent in the courtyard of China Foreign Affairs University. Being a stellar student, she matriculated at the Beijing Film Academy in 1988.

Xu performed her first acting role at age 11 in 1980 and has since then gained recognition and numerous nominations and awards over the years, including the Best Supporting Actress Award in 2009 and 2010 and the Best Actress Award in 2013 and 2016.

In 1992, Xu Qing and Wang Zhi Wen fell in love during the filming of the TV series "Roots of Imperial City" and dated openly for two years until Wang left Beijing for Shanghai. In 1998, Xu met scholar Liu Bo while filming a movie. They got together in 1999 but broke up in 2002.

In November 2023, it was reported that Dongyang Cangguo Film and Television Culture Studio and Dongyang New Vision Film and Television Culture Co Ltd were involved in contract dispute cases with an execution target of more than 6.24 million yuan. It was also reported that Xu Qing is the owner of these two companies with 100% holding of shares, and has been inactive in showbiz since 2019 and has not been seen for a long time.
