Atsuta Yuharu was a Japanese cinematographer born in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan, and grew up in Toranomon, Tokyo, Japan. After graduating in 1922, he joined the Shochiku Corporation, and due to his love for painting, he entered the photography department of the Shochiku Kamata Studios.

After 15 years as an assistant, he became a director of photography from the middle of the filming of "What Did the Lady Forget?" in 1937. He retired from Shochiku in 1972.
