Though young, her experience is very rich. Bachelor degree in psychology and mass media at York University, worked in investment banking for a few years. Went on to New York Film Academy to read a master’s degree in directing, and then did several independent films movie. Xiao Chu returned to China in 2018 for development.
In 2019 she came across ‘Word of Honor’, and won this project from Producer Ma Tao with her creative ideas brought across in tens of thousands of words.
Word Of Honor [山河令 Shānhé lìng] adapted from Priest's novel "Faraway Wanderers" [天涯客 Tian Ya Ke] is Xiao Chu’s first Chinese work.
From the early pre-production ideas to the creation of the script and then to following the crew for filming, Xiao Chu was the only scriptwriter for the project. It’s not often that we see a project in the hands of a rookie new scriptwriter from start till end. Edit Biography
