Shin Shin Ae is a South Korean actress and singer. She graduated from Korea University with a bachelor's degree in Nursing. She then worked as a certified nurse for about two years at Hyehwa Hospital.

She made her debut in 1977 as part of the 9th open recruitment for talent at MBC. She initially used the stage name Shin Geum Mae and appeared in supporting roles for several of the network dramas, always portraying roles older than her. But, as she remained mostly unknown, she continued to work as a nurse to earn more money. She has earned the reputation of being a stable actress.

In 1993, she appeared in the KBS2 mini-series, "Hope", portraying a character that was a trot singer. She was motivated by her mother to debut as a trot singer, releasing the album "The World Is Like This" later that year. Surprisingly, the album was a huge commercial hit during a time when trot music was not liked by the public.

She continues to combine her acting and singing careers.
