Hwang Jung Eum is a South Korean singer, dancer, actress and former member of SUGAR (슈가). She graduated from Sangmyung University College of Education Affiliated Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Theater and Film from Suwon University.

She made her debut in March 2002 as SUGAR's leader and vocalist with their single album, "Tell Me Why". At the time, most of the girl groups had one album before disbanding, but they enjoyed mild success and were able to come back in June 2003. They later debuted in Japan with the release of their first album, "Double Rainbow", released in February 2004. They were managed by SM Entertainment's subsidiary, Starworld (스타월드).

However, in December 2004, she opted to leave the group as she wanted to begin a career as a soloist. She was a regular guest of the variety show "Love Letter" before transitioning into acting, making her debut in 2007 with a role in the drama "The Person I Love". Since then, she has appeared in many successful dramas.

In 2016, she married Lee Young Don, a former professional golfer turned businessman. They had 2 sons. Their divorce was finalized on May 26, 2025.

She is represented by Y.One Entertainment (와이원엔터테인먼트).
