He made his debut in 1986 as part of the 18th open recruitment for talent at MBC. He won the Best New Actor Award at the 1991 MBC Drama Awards and had a steady career portraying supporting roles across many historical dramas during the 1990s. He decided to retire in 2014 and became an avid fisherman, often appearing on FTV (the Fishing Network).
He passed away on May 8, 2025, at the age of 64 due to a myocardial infarction. His funeral was held three days later at Gangdong Sacred Heart Hospital Funeral Hall, and the burial was held at Seoul Memorial Park.
