Jo Shin Ae is a former actor. She graduated from Suji High School and later was enrolled in the Theater and Film program at Suwon University but dropped out, ultimately obtaining a bachelor's degree in the same subject from Konkuk University.

Shin Ae made her debut in 2001 with a role in the SBS drama "Medical Center" after her career meteorically rose when she appeared in a cosmetics commercial for CJ Corporation. The commercial had no lines but her image left an impression and she was sought by many brands. She last appeared on TV in the drama "The Iron Empress" and has made no subsequent appearances.

After the spread of dating rumours, she announced her marriage to a non-celebrity. The couple were married in 2009 and have three children.
