In 1997, he studied electric guitar in Hong Kong. From 2001 to 2003, he studied singing and recording with Li Zong Sheng. In 2003, Fang got the help of Jackie Chan and Yang Shou Cheng to enter the entertainment circle. Fang played the lead role in the 2004 movie "The Twins Effect II" and sang its theme song "Most Beautiful".

It was reported in 2004 that Fang and female singer Dai Pei Ni fell in love, but they broke up in 2006.

In August 2014, Ke Zhen Dong and Jaycee Chan were arrested in Beijing on suspicion of drug use. The police found more than 100 grams of marijuana in their residence. Later, the media revealed that Jaycee Chan had an 8-year history of drug case, and the first drug use was in the Netherlands. In December 2014, the Beijing Dongcheng District People's Court sentenced Chen Zu Ming (stage name Fang Zu Ming) to six months in prison and a fine of RMB 2,000. At 00:40hrs on 13 February 2015, Chen was released and his father cut his hair short. In the afternoon next day, Fang held a press conference in Beijing to apologize to the public for the drug related incident. He bowed to everyone and promised in his subsequent speech that he would be a law abiding person in the future. He admitted the drug-related incident had a negative impact on society. "I have no reason and no excuse. I did something wrong."

In 2016, Fang made a comeback with the film "Railroad Tigers" which was his collaboration with his father Jackie Chan after his release from prison.

From 2017 to 2018, after a hiatus of three or four years, Fang and Zhang Xiao Lei directed the film "Good Night Beijing", which was theatrically released on 10 December 2021. Edit Biography
