Yamamoto Shohei

In 1957, he began his career as a trainee at the Shichiyo-kai (七曜会) theater company. He later worked in the directing department at Sankikai (三期会) theater company and spent three years as a comedian at the Asakusa France-za (浅草フランス座) theater before becoming a freelance actor in 1963, primarily appearing in pink films.
During a hiatus from acting, he worked as a sailor. He was contacted by the editor-in-chief of Naigai Times (内外タイムス), who informed him that Toei (東映) had issued a search request for him. After meeting with director Gosha Hideo (五社英雄), he was cast in the 1974 film Violent Streets (暴力街).
In 1983, Yamamoto joined The Villains Club (悪役商会), a group of actors specializing in villainous roles, founded by actor Yana Nobuo (八名信夫).
Yamamoto passed away from pneumonia in Tokyo on October 30, 2019, at the age of 81.
