Kim Deok Yong, known professionally as Nam Bo Won, was a South Korean comedian and actor born in what today is part of North Korea. His family was one of the first families to be displaced after the Korean War as the area where they lived fell right in between both countries, and political discussions were ongoing to see how the land was supposed to be divided.

He made his debut in 1963 after winning 1st place in the "Star Birth Comedy" show hosted by the Association of Filmmakers. He was a mainstay in Korean comedy in the 1960s with theatrical comedy, in the 1970s with show programs as television was experiencing a boom, and in the 1980s when TV comedy began to expand.

He passed away in January 2020 of pneumonia, an illness he had been suffering for several months before his condition worsened.
